“Vernissage of the Arts at the Ambassador. Fabio Mastrangelo Invites You”

On February 24, 2010, the Ambassador Hotel hosted the sixth evening in the series “Vernissage of the Arts at the Ambassador. Fabio Mastrangelo Invites You.” The evening’s topic was the Golden Mask-2010, the national prize for theater. The Golden Mask was established in 1994 and is awarded to figures in Russian theater. This year, Fabio Mastrangelo has been nominated for the director’s award for his production of the ballet Love and Death (at the Ekaterinburg State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet). Another attendee, distinguished actress of Russia Galina Sidorenko, was also nominated in 2002 for the part of Dorabella in Così fan tutte. She sang at the Ambassador along with Marinsky Theater soloist and international competition winner Sergei Muravyev.

Also performing that evening was a string quartet of artists from the orchestra of the Large Hall of the Philharmonic under the direction of Yu.Kh. Temirkanov and Maria Burlyaeva, an actress from the Mayakovsky Theater in Moscow.

In keeping with tradition, one of the concert participants shared a cooking recipe. The night’s special dish was a Napoleon cake prepared by Galina Sidorenko according to a family recipe.

Guests included Sergei Shakurov, People’s Artist of Russia; Galina Bokashevskaya, Distinguished Actress of Russia; Stas Lopatkin, a St. Petersburg designer, and representatives of the consular corps in St. Petersburg.

The evening was concluded with a festive reception.
