Third Baltic Meeting in Ambassador
The third Baltic Party was held in Ambassador Hotel on November 19, 2008. The traditional event is co-sponsored by the hotel and the Committee for International Relations of St. Petersburg. The Party is a culmination of the events within the framework of the year-long Baltic Meetings program.
According to a tradition, a Consulate General of one of the Baltic States, has co-sponsored the event ever since its first year. In the previous years the party was hosted by General Consulates of Lithuania and Poland. This year the Committee for International Relations of St. Petersburg co-sponsored the event with the Consulate General of the Republic of Finland in St. Petersburg.
The event included a round table discussion on St. Petersburg and Finland in the context of worldwide modernization, “History, Economy, Ecology.” The discussion was organized by the Committee for International Affairs, a Finnish Council Group under the auspices of the City Government, and Eurofacts Company, and attended by famous politicians, historians and businessmen. The event included a presentation of Finland’s tourist attractions in Lappeenranta, Kotka, Tampere, Porvoo, Mikkeli and other cities. More than one hundred guests of the Third Baltic Party stayed at Ambassador Hotel.
The evening continued with a reception in the Vernisage Panoramic Restaurant. Speakers at the event included General Consul of Finnish Republic O. Perheentupa, Chairman of the Committee for International Relations A. V. Prokhorenko, and Commercial Director of Ambassador Hotel D. A. Machikhin. The guests of the event included consular officers, businesspeople, mayors of Finnish cities. The reception menu included dishes by Ambassador’s chef Valentin Komisin, and his colleague from the Consulate of Finland in St. Petersburg. Our Finnish friends presented an interesting cultural program.
