On December 4, 2007 in Saint Petersburg a number of events took place within the framework of the project “Baltic meetings at Ambassador Hotel” aimed at development of business contacts and bringing more life into business and humanitarian cooperation in the Baltic region.

In 2006 Lithuania was the country of the Baltic region which made the presentation within the framework of the Baltic meetings. This year has been the year of Poland. In the Orion conference hall the presentation of tourist sights of Poland, and also of the Polish New Year express train was made. At the round table in which General Manager of Ambassador Hotel A.V. Sharapov, Chairman of St. Petersburg Committee on External Relations A.V. Prokhorenko, mayor of Kotka (Finland) H. Lindelef took part, the Consul on Economics of General Consulate of Poland at St. Petersburg Marija Napurkovska made a speech devoted to the tourist potential and the prospects of economic cooperation.
Among the guests of the II Annual Baltic Night were representatives of the diplomatic corps of the countries of the Baltic region, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Administration and Legislative assembly of Saint Petersburg, as well as representatives of business circles interested in development of cooperation with the Baltic countries. A.V. Sharapov, A.V. Prokhorenko and M. Napurkovska made salutatory addresses, the latter inviting everybody to try Polish traditional meals and drinks - cheeses, bigus, vinjak and zubrovka. Polish folklore ensemble “Kortovo” performed ethnic songs and dances.
Head of Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in St. Petersburg V.V. Zapevalov, General Consul of Lithuania in St. Petersburg E. Bajarunas, Deputy Head of Trading Mission of Ukraine in Russia at General Consulate of Ukraine in Saint Petersburg S.E. Malakhovskaya were also among the guests of the event.

In 2006 with the support of St. Petersburg Committee on External Relations and Ambassador Hotel a large-scale project “Baltic Meetings” was launched, participated by representatives of political, business, scientific and cultural circles of St. Petersburg and the countries of the Baltic region. Conferences, round tables, meetings devoted to problems of the Baltic region have been regularly carried out ever since. Especially remarkable were the Days of Turku and Riga, the Days of Central Finland, the Tallinn Meetings and the IV International conference “FREIGHT-2007: Container transportations in Russia and the adjoining countries”.
